In December 2008, LEAD Canada Inc. became the first North American organization certified by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) to provide courses on the GRI’s sustainable reporting framework in Canada. As a strong supporter of the GRI, SHARE is proud to announce its decision to endorse LEAD Canada's GRI sustainability reporting training courses. The first GRI-certified course was delivered on 15-16 December 2008 in Toronto. Upcoming courses are scheduled for Calgary (5-6 February 2009), Montreal (12-13 February 2009), Vancouver (19-20 February 2009) and Toronto (2-3 March 2009).

LEAD Canada's GRI training courses are targeted at professional sustainability report makers and users. In addition to providing a global overview, the courses will address sustainability reporting drivers, practices, case studies and trends in the Canadian context. Using presentations by experts, interactive discussions, reports and group work sessions, the courses will provide advanced insights into the GRI's sustainability reporting framework and its application in Canada. Course participants will be invited to share their organizations' sustainability reporting journey and provide insights into the practical challenges and opportunities associated with the reporting process. They will also be asked to discuss how sustainability reporting has added value to their organizations' bottom-line and reputation.
