Me in Brief

Dr. Poff has recently been appointed President and Vice-Chancellor of Brandon University. Previously, Deborah Poff served as Vice-President Academic at the University of Northern British Columbia. Dr. Poff earned a B.A. (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Guelph in 1974; a second BA (Hons) in Philosophy from Queen's University in 1977; a M.A. in Philosophy of Mind from Carleton University and a PhD in Philosophy of Science from University of Guelph in 1987. Prior to coming to UNBC Dr. Poff held a cross-appointment position as Chair of Women's Studies and Assistant Director of the Institute for the Study of Women from 1984-1987; Associate Director and Associate Professor, Institute for the Study of Women from 1987 - 1990; and as Director of the Institute for the Study of Women and Associate Professor from 1990 - 1993 all at Mount Saint Vincent University. Dr. Poff has authored numerous publications on ethics, violence, sexuality, feminism, global economic development, environmental ethics and justice issues. She co-founded and edits the Journal of Business Ethics and Teaching Business Ethics. She has a forthcoming book (with A. Michalos) with the University of Toronto Press and is currently working on a co-authored book on environmental ethics for Kluwer Publishers.
