Me in Brief
The mission of the Sheldon Chumir Foundation for Ethics in Leadership is to promote action which exemplifies ethical principle. Our work focuses on ethics in leadership, primarily in public life but also in relation to the private sector.
We founded and financially support the ethics event at the annual Inter-Collegiate Business Competition (ICBC) hosted by Queen’s University. We also contributed to initial planning work with the Canadian Ethics Leadership Forum (CELF) and Dr. Marsha Hanen, past-President of the Foundation, spoke at the launch of CELF in Edmonton on October 26, 2005.
One of the Chumir Foundation’s primary interests is, where the line should be drawn between the private and public spheres, for example, in education, in regulation of the extractive industries and in policing? A significant part of the Foundation mandate is to provide fora for 'discussion which raises awareness of the ethical consequences of choices and actions'.
