Me in Brief
 My interest in business ethics arose when I was pursuing my master degree in international law. After working on projects concerning anti-money laundry and financial regulation, I was determined to conduct further research into the ethical elements in securities regulation. I am now doing my PhD in law at the University of British Columbia.
My past work probes into the effectiveness of the use of soft law, in particular recommendations and best practices produced by inter-governmental bodies, in combating trade-based money laundry.
My current research involves environmental disclosure by public-listed companies. My project is a combination of theoretical and empirical inquiries. The targeted samples are selected firms in the textile and garment industry in Canada, mainland China and Hong Kong respectively. The study is mainly focused on answering some of the following questions:
how the environmental disclosure requirements in securities regulation were formulated and modified through the years and how they managed to exert influence over firms' disclosure decision making;
what are the discrepancies with respect to environmental disclosure requirements between securities regulation and environmental regulation and how to coordinate them;
what motivates firms to make voluntary environmental disclosure; and
whether new governance theories can be applied to the governance of environmental disclosure with regard to the practice of civil society and third party monitoring in environmental disclosure.
