Me in Brief

I am a Canadian rural development specialist, with specific focus on the legal and political geographies of rural regions. I have professional experience working in regional planning and economic development with rural communities in Canada. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and a Master of Science degree in Rural Planning and Development.

My research explores competing claims of territoriality and the distribution of power between governments, industry and rural communities to control and benefit from resource extraction.

My interest in business ethics lies in the impact of corporate social responsibility activities and the distribution of power on a regional scale. I am interested in understanding the relationship between corporate social responsibility practices and territorial jurisdiction in rural Canada. My research explores the distribution of benefit through private CSR activities and how this impacts the territorial jurisdiction of rural communities and regional planning activities. My current work focuses on the mining industries’ corporate responsibility practices in rural communities in northern British Columbia, Canada.
