Me in Brief
As a geographer, I am interested in commodity networks and chains of capital investment that link different people and places. In particular, I study the ways in which new investment relationships and trade links broaden the range of connections and networks and spheres of influence of Canadian economic actors. I am interested in how social responsibility concepts envision different types of social and environmental relationships in the economy, different economic actors with different concepts of truth and responsibility, and different imaginaries of the moral economy.
I use three interrelated research techniques. I use legal research to study case specific legal problems and the application of legal and policy frameworks. I borrow from the interpretive social sciences, hermeneutics, and analytic philosophy traditions to provide close readings and analysis of policy documents, public statements, and management reports. Drawing on economic geography I use semi-structured interviews to gain agents' perspectives on their motivations and field of action.
