Me in Brief

Tom Ewart is the Managing Director of the Network for Business Sustainability, which is aimed at bridging research and practice in business sustainability in Canada. He is also a Research Associate at the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario, where he works under the supervision of Professor Pratima Bansal.

Ewart graduated in 2005 from the University of Western Ontario as a gold medalist in the Engineering Faculty and as an Ivey Scholar in the Honors Bachelor Administration program. After graduation, he remained at Western to assist in research and teaching activities. Broadly speaking, Ewart’s research interests include corporate sustainability, social enterprise and non-profit management. He has contributed to research on topics ranging from responsible decision-making in top management teams, to the impact of organization time orientation on corporate social responsibility.

Recently, Ewart has focused on building and managing the Network for Business Sustainability. The Network includes approximately 200 researchers of business sustainability across Canada and many practitioners from industry, government and non-governmental organizations. The Network’s Business Sustainability Leadership Council, comprised of 17 leading practitioners, meets annually to identify business sustainability issues on which they require more or better knowledge, which Network researchers are encouraged to address.
