Me in Brief

My current research focuses on corporate social responsibility , and the role of international norms in the dissemination of new values around acceptable corporate behaviour.

The first phase of this research was funded through a grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). Through a case study of two Canadian mining companies, I examine how important an emerging norm of corporate social responsibility has been in influencing decisions to adopt policies on corporate responsibility. I further examine the role mining multinationals have played in promoting global standards applicable to the mining sector. This research touches on issues of global governance, Canadian foreign policy and international political economy.

I am currently writing a book-length manuscript drawing together research on Placer Dome and Noranda, as described above.
